Your first job

Open a file, ask Weaver one question in your own words, and check the answer. Three minutes, using an invoice sheet as the example.

This takes about three minutes. Use any Excel or CSV file you have. The example below uses a sheet of invoices.

Step 1. Open the file

Drag the file onto the Dataweaver window. Or press + Add a file in the box where you type. The file opens beside the chat, in rows and columns.

Step 2. Ask

Type your question in the box at the bottom of the chat, the way you would say it to a colleague. Then press Enter.

Which invoices are not paid, and what is the total?

Step 3. Watch it work

A line above the answer says what Weaver is doing right now. Press it to see every step: what Weaver looked at, what it found, and what it did next. This usually takes under a minute. You can press Stop at any time.

Step 4. Check the answer

The answer is a short piece of text, and often a table. Every number in the answer is a link. Press a number and the file opens with the rows it came from marked. Do this for one or two numbers the first time. It is how you learn to trust the tool.

Step 5. Keep the result

If Weaver made a file, it appears in the chat as a card with Share, Copy file and Save a copy. Press the card to open the file beside the chat. My files in the sidebar lists every file Weaver made.

Weaver does not change your file unless you ask it to. Results are new files, and the chat says where each one is saved.
