How Weaver works

Weaver is a careful assistant. It does one step, checks the result, fixes what is wrong, and stops when the answer is ready. You see every step.

Weaver is the assistant inside Dataweaver. You do not set anything up and you do not approve a plan. You say what you want. Weaver does the work.

What you see

Weaver works like a careful assistant. It does one step, looks at the result, and decides the next step. If something is wrong, it fixes it and tries again. It stops only when the answer is ready, or when it needs to ask you something.

A line above the answer says what Weaver is doing right now. Press it to see every step, what Weaver did and what it found. You can press Stop at any time.

What you get

  • A short written answer.
  • Often a table, a chart, or a new file, right in the chat.
  • Every number in the answer is a link to the rows or the page it came from.

Three rules Weaver follows

  • It does not change your files on its own. When you ask it to change a Word file, Undo brings back the earlier one.
  • It never changes a database. It can only read.
  • It decides which file or figure to use and tells you what it took. It asks only for a fact that is in none of your files.

How to ask

Type the way you would speak to a colleague. Name the columns the way they are named in your file. Say what the result should look like.

Compare the Amount column in bank.xlsx with the Credit column in books.xlsx. Match on date and amount. Give me a table of the rows that do not match, with the reason.

If the answer is not what you wanted, say so in the next message. Weaver keeps the conversation and corrects course.
